TikTok Music Copyright Check

A full audit of your brand's TikTok presence for unlicensed music — owned posts, TikTok Shop, affiliate content, and every creator campaign

How We Audit Your TikTok Presence

1

Audit Every Post

We check every post on your account, back to your first upload, alongside your TikTok Shop videos and affiliate posts and the creator campaigns you have paid for.

2

Identify Real Exposure

The library a brand account sees is not the library a personal account sees. We assess what your business account was actually licensed to use.

3

Deliver A Report

You receive a complete profile review with links to every high-risk post, the track identified and a recommended action for each.

TikTok Copyright Questions

Well, we've got answers

Our team used a sound that was right there in the app. Isn't that allowed?

Not necessarily. TikTok's catalog differs by account type: personal accounts generally reach the full library, while business accounts are restricted to a commercial-use selection. A track that appears for a personal account may not be cleared for a brand, and being in the app is not the same as being licensed for you.

Do you cover sped-up, slowed, and remixed audio?

Yes — sped-up and slowed edits, remixes, mashups, and viral voice clips are all in scope. Speeding up or slowing a track does not remove the rights in the underlying recording or composition, and a remix is a derivative that still needs permission. These are among the most-used sounds on TikTok, so an audit that only matched unaltered originals would miss a great deal.

Does a brand account protect us automatically?

It reduces the risk but does not remove it. Switching account type does not retroactively license the content you have already published, and it does not cover audio added outside the in-app library.

What about creators we pay to post about us?

They are in scope. Rights holders have pursued brands over content posted by paid creators as well as by the brand itself, and it is the brand that has been named as defendant. Our audit covers campaign content alongside your owned account.

Our affiliates post TikTok Shop videos we didn't create. Are we exposed?

Often, yes. Affiliate creators post under your Shop listings from their own accounts and choose their own audio, and it is the brand that has been named as defendant — the same position as with paid campaign creators. Rosters change constantly and nobody signs off each video, so one unlicensed track can spread across hundreds of posts before anyone notices; our audit covers affiliate Shop content alongside your owned account.

We re-post our TikToks to Instagram and YouTube. Is that a problem?

Often, yes. Each platform licenses music for use on itself. A track taken from TikTok's library and re-posted elsewhere leaves that license behind — cross-posting is one of the most common ways a compliant brand becomes a non-compliant one.

Do you offer ongoing TikTok monitoring, or is this a one-off audit?

Both. The audit is a one-off review of everything already published; monitoring is a subscription that re-checks your account on a weekly or monthly cycle. We usually recommend weekly checks for TikTok specifically, because Shop and affiliate rosters change constantly and those creators pick their own audio — the gap between a video going up and anyone noticing it is where most new exposure appears.
